Halo The Master Chief Collection’s Xbox Series X/S upgrade will run at 120fps this November

It will be available free to existing owners and Game Pass subscribers

Halo: The Master Chief Collection will get an Xbox Series X/S upgrade this holiday season, Microsoft has confirmed.

Launching on November 17, the optimised next-gen version will run at 120fps in campaign and multiplayer and up to 4K on Series X.

Available free to existing owners and Game Pass subscribers, the next-gen upgrade will also offer cross-gen play and adjustable field of view.

343 Industries is planning to launch cross-play support for Halo: The Master Chief Collection later this year. Enabling Xbox and PC users to play together, the feature will arrive alongside input based matchmaking and server region selection.

Xbox Series X ($499/€499/£449) and Xbox Series S ($300/$300/£249) will launch on November 10. They will be backward compatible with existing Xbox One games and accessories, including backward compatible Xbox 360 and original Xbox titles, which will “look and play better than ever before”, according to Microsoft.

The platform holder recently revealed the Xbox Series X/S software launch line-up, including 20 games supporting Smart Delivery, which lets players buy a title once and play it across current and next-gen consoles.

The Xbox Series X/S launch line-up is missing a new flagship first-party game. That position was meant to be occupied by Halo Infinite before the game was delayed to 2021.
