Ninja Theory ceases Bleeding Edge content updates after just 10 months
Studio has shifted focus to new projects, but the combat game remains playable
Less than a year since its release, Ninja Theory has announced that Bleeding Edge will no longer receive new content updates.
Announced at E3 2019 and released in March 2020, Bleeding Edge is a 4v4 melee-focused fighting game with bold visuals and even louder characters.
While it will no longer receive new content updates, Ninja Theory said on Thursday that the game will remain playable on Xbox consoles and PC.
“With the studio now focusing on our new projects (Senua’s Saga, Project Mara & The Insight Project) we have decided that there will be no further content updates for Bleeding Edge,” it explained.
“The game is still playable on Xbox and PC. Thank you to the fans & keep teaming up & causing chaos!”
Cambridge, UK-based Ninja Theory was acquired by Microsoft in 2018. Its action sequel Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 was the first Xbox Series X game to be revealed when it was announced at The Game Awards in 2019.
Project Mara, which is set exclusively in a photorealistic apartment, has been described by Ninja Theory chief creative director Tameem Antoniades as “a real world and grounded representation of mental terror.”
The Insight Project is an exploratory project designed to treat mental suffering and encourage mental wellbeing within an immersive game experience.
