The Alone in the Dark reboot has slipped to 2024
The game was due to release this October
THQ Nordic has delayed its Alone in the Dark reboot until next year.
Announcing the slip on its social media channels on Tuesday, the publisher said the game would now release in January so that developer Pieces Interactive could spend additional time working on the game.
“Horror games thrive on the eerie embrace of solitude, something that is impossible to achieve in a gaming month as busy as October,” a post on the Alone in the Dark Twitter reads.
“To ensure a breathtaking experience for everyone, we have made the decision to move the release of #AloneInTheDark to January 16, 2024.”
Developed by THQ’s Swedish studio Pieces Interactive, Alone in the Dark is planned for release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
The game stars David Harbour (Stranger Things, Black Widow) and Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, Free Guy) as series protagonists Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood, as they explore the mysterious mansion of Derceto.
A free playable prologue for the game, called Grace in the Dark, is available for download now. It takes place a couple of weeks before the game and features a young girl called Grace Saunders as she wanders round the mansion, trying to post a letter.
