Elden Ring has now shipped 13.4 million units
The Bandai Namco title added a further 1.4m sales in March, the company says
Elden Ring has shipped 13.4 million units as of March 31, 2022, publisher Bandai Namco said on Wednesday, adding a further 1.4m sales during the final two weeks of the month.
While the shipped number refers to units that have been sent to retail, Bandai Namco claimed last month that the game had sold 12 million units by March 14.
The From Software game, which was released in February to hugely favourable reviews, was a huge sales hit for Bandai Namco, comfortably outselling physically the previous biggest ‘Souls’ boxed launch, 2016’s Dark Souls 3, by 26% in the UK.
“It’s astonishing to see just how many people have been playing Elden Ring,” Miyazaki said at the time. “I’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks on behalf of the entire development team.
“Elden Ring is based on a mythological story written by George R. R. Martin. We hope players enjoy a high level of freedom when adventuring through its vast world, exploring its many secrets and facing up to its many threats. Thank you for your continued support.”
Bandai Namco president and CEO Yasuo Miyakawa added: “Much effort was placed into creating Elden Ring so that we could exceed the expectations of our fans worldwide.
“In like manner, we will continue our efforts in expanding the brand beyond the game itself, and into everyone’s daily life.”
Elden Ring was also Europe’s biggest new games IP launch since 2016’s The Division, according to GSD sales data published on GamesIndustry.biz.

The game’s UK release was the biggest launch for a game other than FIFA or Call of Duty since Rockstar‘s Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018.
And it’s Steam‘s sixth biggest game ever in terms of concurrent players, with a peak of over 950,000 – more than seven times that of Dark Souls III.
